Public · Hosted by Cyprus University of Technology / Τεχνολογικό Πανεπιστήμιο Κύπρου

The Department of Fine Arts is inaugurating the International Art Library Project, which is expected to be held every six months at the historic building of the Municipal University Library in Lemesos. The aim of the department is to become an experimental artistic and curatorial workshop, to become a major attraction for major visual artists from Cyprus and abroad, and to contribute to the interconnection of contemporary art with Cypriot society. A key component of the Library Project is the promotion of the multimedia nature of contemporary art, as well as the artistic and diligent practices that explore and comment on important issues in the contemporary socio-political context.

Invited artist of Library Project I is the internationally renowned Greek performer and artist Philip Tsitsopoulos (born 1967). On Saturday, November 9, at 7.30 pm at the Municipal University Library, Tsitsopoulos will perform the action under the title What You Kill, You Must Love It (an enigmatic phrase borrowed (and slightly paraphrased) from the emblematic text of the German playwright and poet Heiner Müller, The Hamlet Machine (1977)
