MULTIVERSE

NINA SUMARAC JABLONSKY

Reshuffling of our collective memory.

‘Multiverse’ (or meta-universe) is the hypothetical set of possible universes, including the universe in which we live. Together, these universes comprise everything that exists: the entirety of space, time, matter, energy, and the physical and psychical laws and constants that describe them.

The composition built around this series began through the use of digital image processing; an approach that was initially employed to provide a rough sketch. However, what this process brought into play was the very premise of the series itself, which is related to how selective memory comes into effect. During these initial stages, the artist became acutely aware of how fitting digital manipulation (moving, cutting, layering and transforming images) was to the visual representation of this experiential phenomenon. Aligning both enabled the artist to explore commonalities such as legitimate truth, chronological overlaps, ownership rights as well as the access and exposure of public data on a cellular level.
