Concept

Patricia Dominguez reported in the publication Technologies of Enchantment that during her stay in London and tour of the Canary Wharf neighbourhood, she discovered many healing centers, wellness centers and prayer rooms Businessmen, consumed by deadlines did erect their own intimate temples, desiring to heal tired bodies, experience illumination, and reconcile with the Earth. The exhibition explores the phenomenon of techno-mysticism,its title defines a fictional center, the name of which is modeled on the spiritual places located in the Canary Wharf complex. The issue of the developed exhibition is a counterweight to the operations of digital corporatism. Technomystics seek to complement the experiential and cognitive dimensions by correlating magic with software and electrical hardware. According to futurologist Mark Pesce: "Both cyberspace and magical space manifest only in the imagination." He argues that technology and our minds are welded together by a vast network of living thoughts, beliefs and convictions. Contrary to appearances, this is not just the fantasy of technomists exploring and promoting Pesce's thesis. In today's cognitive science and psychology, the human being is seen as a computer machine that processes information. The exhibition activates digital files and algorithms to reconnect them with memory, feelings and even the concept of the soul. The works, arranged in a laboratory space, take the form of the title portals. By one definition, a portal is a website, providing access or links to other sites. Moreover, understood as a passageway or gateway, it is associated with the perception of screens, which in everyday life are treated as glass membranes, connecting two locations. Both terms of this phenomenon initiate and enable the perception of tensions, occurring within the works, observation of relations between works and association of images with external sources.
